A Complete Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

Having dry skin can be pretty uncomfortable. Extreme dryness can make your skin itchy, tight, scaly, and flaky. The environment we live in, weather conditions of a place, genetics, usage of hard water, certain medical conditions, excessive washing, exposure to irritants, and vitamin B deficiency are a few reasons that leave your skin dry. Do not let these reasons worry you, for a consistent and daily skincare routine can make your skin happy and delightful. So what is it?

Consistency is always the key. Are you ready to follow six simple steps regularly? If so, mark in your calendar one daily routine more and witness the magnificent difference over time.

Cleansing is the first and foremost step. Before stepping into applying good skincare products, it’s essential to get rid of all bacteria, viruses, pollutants, and old skin cells from the skin’s surface. Therefore choose an appropriate cleanser rich in hydrating ingredients that leaves your skin smooth and soft. While cleansing your face, remember to use warm water over hot water, for the latter one may make your skin even drier.  Also, Read: Healthy Diet for Glowing Skin

  • Toner

While cleansing is the primary step to get rid of all the dirt from the skin’s surface, using a toner is considered the second step to remove the leftover makeup and dirt, if any. Toners help close the skin pores and tighten the cell gap, to prevent the penetration of dirt and impurities to the skin. Thus, it refreshes the skin and retains the skin tone’s balance. Additionally, using a toner enhances the absorption of moisturizers and other skincare products a person uses post- cleansing.

  • Moisturizer

Though a toner helps retain and bind moisture to the dry skin better than before, applying moisturizer to the skin after using a toner helps attain healthy, wrinkle-free skin. The skin constitutes a majority of the body parts, and paying keen attention to your skin is crucial. Applying moisturizer to your skin, particularly dry skin, and massaging it stimulates the blood circulation in your body, further enhancing the generation of new cells. Thus moisturizing your skin helps you stay young and healthy. Therefore, it must be a part of your daily skincare routine. Regular moisturizing, especially after a shower, can reduce skin problems and prevent extreme skin dryness.  Also, Read: How Drinking Water Benefits the Skin

  • Apply Sunscreen

You might have already heard about how the sun’s ultraviolet radiation can wither and dry out the skin’s texture. To prevent the early aging of skin and protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays, applying a sunscreen of a minimum of SPF 30  before heading out is important. This should be a must-have part of your daily skincare routine.

  • Good Overnight Care

Apart from hydrating and nourishing your skin during the day and taking the necessary preventative measures to protect your skin from the rays of the sun, giving overnight care to your skin is significant. Sleep deprivation can make your skin dry and dull. Sleeping for eight hours is essential to ensure the good health of your skin. In addition to this, using a hydrating and moisturizing night cream can leave a refreshing and soothing touch in the morning, you wake up.

  • Water and Nutrition

Drink plenty of water to hydrate your dry skin and improve its elasticity. Eat healthy food that prevents your skin from getting dry. For example, including food items like avocados, walnuts, broccoli, fatty fish, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and sweet potatoes in your meal plan can keep your skin healthy throughout.

Don’t let your skin start drying out to follow a skincare routine. Neither should you give up treating your skin with good care. Consistency is always the key. Any healthy habit you follow, be it exercise, hair care, or dieting, will take a minimum of 30 to 45 days to start showing results. The same applies to the skincare routine as well.
